You Will Shoot How You Train
Many of our customers compete in IDPA, which stands for International Defensive Pistol Association. IDPA was started as a response to the direction that other shooting sports were taking in regards to gamesmanship and equipment races. To compete in IDPA, all you is a serviceable weapon in 9mm or larger, a holster, a mag pouch and a concealment garment. IDPA is great because it teaches shooters things like the use of cover, reloading under stress, and shooting on the move. However, it is still a game. When training for IDPA or any other...

A great example of why you need to be careful who teaches you to shoot. If you notice, no ear protection, no eye protection, and the gun is mounted wrong. This poor girl got a nice ring on her face from the scope. All because she was “taught” how to shoot. She should have broken the stock across the head of her great teacher. If you are not a great shooter who is very familiar with firearms, let someone else teach your loved one how to shoot. Swallow your pride, so your “student’ doesn’t eat the scope like this...

So you’ve decided it’s time to get your girlfriend, wife or daughter her first gun. What should it be? Or you’re a lady who has decided to take responsibility for your own protection. Which gun is right for you? At MCC we always recommend that someone’s first handgun be a 22 long rifle. Why? Because it is the lightest recoiling gun available cheap to shoot, and will teach to shoot properly. Please don’t go out and buy your wife some kind of titanium 38 special or357 magnum for her first gun. Not only will she be...

A growing trend in almost every part of the gun business is that more and more women are becoming customers, shooters, and competitors. This is a great thing. MCC believes that if you have guns in your home, your spouse should at least be able to know how to handle one in case for some reason she needs to move it or secure it. Of more importance is the issue of defense. Women are becoming increasingly aware that they have more options when it comes to their personal defense than just dialing 911. MCC supports every aspect of Law Enforcement,...
read more$0.25 Glock Trigger Job?
I noticed the other day that there were a ton of posts out there gathering some attention. These posts encourage you to do a $0.25 trigger job by simply using some polishing compound to “really slick up your Glock.” Will you see any results? Doubtful. But hey, what do you expect for a quarter? Surely you aren’t about to do this and think you are going to get a great trigger job. That would be crazy, and you are so much smarter than that. If someone told you to take your 1911 or AR apart and do a trigger job with some polish,...
read more3.5# Connector
Many of you may be wondering why you hear about a trigger job that has a “Genuine Glock” 3.5# connector. As of the last armorer’s course I took, Glock did not sell this part or the amphibious spring cups to the general public. They have restricted these parts to L/E only. An armorer may order them, but it must be done with departmental letterhead. Why? The only reason that was given is that they moved it to L/E to diminish liability. You can still get the 3.5 connector in any of the tactical/practical models (34 or 35), but...
read more3 Questions About Glock's Extended Mag Release
If you are thinking about an extended mag release for you Glock, here are a few questions you should answer; 1. How will I feel if I bend over and my drop free mag goes flying across the floor of the supermarket? Warning: If you are not a skinny person, you have a very high likelihood of loosing your mag inadvertently. This is bad, but not the end of the world. Read next question for end of the world. 2. How will you feel if your gun only goes bang once? Same premise, only this time you weren’t lucky enough for the mag to actually come...

I recently wrote a few posts lamenting the fact that the AR really doesn’t have a good bargain option. Well, the other day a customer of mine asked me if I had ever heard of CMMG. I confessed that I had not, but he quickly got my attention by saying they were offering a used AR for $570 plus $15 shipping. These guns are L/E trade ins, and advertised as guns that won’t win any beauty contests so I was interested to see them. I received his gun on Friday, and I was more than impressed. First of all CMMG, had everything packaged...

A friend of mine, named Howard Harlan, is well known for his custom made duck calls, and his collection of duck call/hunting memorabilia. Several years ago during a wild game dinner at Judson Baptist Church in Nashville, TN, he showed off a very similar gun from his collection, but this is the first time I have ever seen one in action. These guns were very popular when duck hunting was a commercial business. Obviously this gun would help you take your limit. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTQQfKxkZpk]
