Fit Issues with Gen 4
We recently updated our MCC Release info in the store to include the following: The MCC Extended Glock release will not fit any Gen 4 models or the Gen 3 36. They are completely different. This is one area that Glock changed when they went from Gen 3 to 4. We are sorry if this causes any confusion. Please keep this in mind if you are thinking about ordering them.

I am often asked my opinion on the best revolver available today. Certainly we have in many ways seen the peak of the great revolvers in one sense because we have ushered in the semi-auto age. However, in recent years many companies have begun to market new and improved revolvers. Smith & Wesson has even begun selling blued revolvers again!! With polymer choices, .410’s from Smith and Taurus, and the alloy guns made for concealed carry, it is certainly a cool time to be interested in revolvers. The options are endless. If you...

Humidity is crazy right now in Nashville. It is making life “thick” for us. I wanted to remind all of you to take care of your firearms, reloading equipment etc. It is very easy to wipe a metal surface down with some light oil and it will go a long way towards keeping your gear good. I say this to remind me as well, because I had a J-Frame I neglected about 4 years ago when we moved to Nashville, and it looks like cancer took it. The gun is still serviceable, but it makes me sick to look at it. It is the only gun that I have...

Just got done putting some rifle sights on an 870. This is a sweet setup for those of you wanting to take your home defense/competition shotgun to a new level. Pictures to follow. When will summer end? Burning up in Nashville right now. Hard to get in the shop when you are sweating!!
read moreSummer Heat
Summer brings about its own issues for gun enthusiasts. We don’t like sweating while we shoot. Fogs glasses and makes ear muffs uncomfortable. I don’t like touching hot guns. I really don’t like sunburns. Perhaps the hardest thing is that some CCW adjustments need to be made. For me the summer generally means a J-Frame. I have a hard time with a full size anything. I would love to have the readers thoughts on the subject. Leave us a comment about how you beat the heat and still get to the range or carry when summer...

For many years Ruger produced a line of revolver that ended in 6: Speed 6, Security 6, Service 6. They were the precursor to the GP100 and Sp101. As usual with Ruger, they are rock solid. In some ways, they are a little easier to get inside of than the modern revolvers. They only drawback for custom work is that they do not use a coil spring for the trigger return spring. This makes tuning the trigger a little harder, but replacement spring kits are available from Brownells. A quick look at Gunbroker shows many of these guns available...
read more22 Long Rifle
I am reminded over and over again of the value of owning firearms chambered in 22 long rifle. I think everyone should have one, not just because they are cheap, but because they will allow you to focus on the fundamentals of shooting. For whatever reason, shooters tend to overlook the fundamentals. Too many go to the range and hose ammo without thinking of the end goal. 22’s allow you to have fun and get better. Check out the article I wrote for guns.com this week.

Last weekend we held a class for the TN Handgun Carry Permit. This is always a fun class to teach, because so many of the shooters are newer to the shooting disciplines and don’t have the bad habits already formed. They literally soak up every thing you have to say and start shooting better by the end of the day. At the end of the class we let the students shoot many of our personal guns so they can get a feel for what’s out there. One special treat is that one our instructors has a Pac-Lite conversion for his Ruger Mark III....

In the old days of shooting, most magazines need to be tuned for reliability. Thankfully we have come a long way in magazine production. If you find yourself dealing with a pesky mag, check out the following article I wrote for guns.com for a possible solution.

We have been really busy lately teaching classes and generally sweating to death. In the last class we had, I was asked the question that keeps coming up in all our classes; “What do you think about lasers?” I personally like lasers for those of you who need help seeing the sights because of being in the bifocal stage of life, but they may not be as beneficial to the rest of the shooting world as you are being led to believe. Check out this article I wrote for guns.com to see my thoughts on the matter.
