Secure Wedding

Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2008 in Just Whatever | 0 comments

I thought that my cousin had a very secure wedding because he was carrying, but this link proves that there are weddings no terrorist would want to interrupt. I bet no one objected when the pastor asked for reasons they shouldn’t be married! Check it out here.

Scope Rings

Posted by admin on Jun 24, 2008 in Gunsmithing | 0 comments

Getting the right scope rings makes all of the difference in the world.  I was talking to a shooter today who had experienced some problems with fatigue while shooting his .308.  It came down to the height of his scope rings.  An instructor pointed out that they were too high for him.  A switch to lower rings and he was good to go. Your scope should feel comfortable to look through when you mount the gun.  If you have to raise your head up or lower it too much, you are not in the proper shooting position.  You should be able to mount the gun...

Trust Your Gunsmith

Posted by admin on Jun 16, 2008 in Gunsmithing | 0 comments

I just got off the phone with a friend who shared with me an experience about a customer who brought him a box of parts. He wanted a 1911 built, and decided it would be a better deal for him to buy the parts and supply them to the builder even though the builder told him not to do buy anything without first talking to him. When he got his brand new gun back it wouldn’t run properly. Why? Because he had mistakingly bought one part for a 9mm instead of a 45acp. Oops! A very expensive mistake. Now, before you call my friend a big jerk...

Gun Security

Posted by admin on Jun 10, 2008 in Just Whatever | 2 comments

If you are looking to keep hands off home defense handgun, you might want to consider a small safe. Safes are great ways to keep unwanted hands off your gun, but they do have a drawback; they may keep your hands off your gun when you need it the most. This is a problem for anyone that wants a handgun readily accessible for defense, but wants to keep children and snoopy friends away. There are a couple of good options available for less than $100. They involve a keypad that you can access. The question is, can you access it fast enough, while...

Fist-Fire

Recently we mentioned D.R. Middlebrooks and point shooting as we were talking about Daniel Horner who now shoots for the Army Marksmanship Unit. Many people don’t buy into point shooting because they believe that only the “front sight/press” method should be taught. Middlebrooks takes that school of thought and turns it on its head. One thing that often gets misinterpreted is that people say D.R. teaches people to never use their sights. That is simply not true. He actually says that if you have time, you should use your...

MCC Looking for Competitive Shooters

Posted by admin on Jun 3, 2008 in Just Whatever | 0 comments

Many of you saw the AMU video the other day, and it peaked your interest. It also got us thinking. We checked the some of the local matches in Nashville and found that there just aren’t a lot of people participating. This was surprising because in our former location it was not usual to have 50 people participating in a monthly IDPA match. So this is the question; Where are all the competitive shooters in Nashville? We are interested in your comments and responses. It also leads us to a new area of thought. MCC is interested in...

AMU 3 Gun Footage

Posted by admin on May 30, 2008 in 1911, AR-15, Videos | 0 comments

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqI91z3RV14&hl=en] This is some footage of the Army Marksmanship Unit Shooters (AMU) shooting in a 3 gun match. One of the shooters is Daniel Horner who you may have heard of from his civilian days as a shooter from the Tactical Shooting Academy. What you will notice is that these guys are awesome. It has come to our attention that this video was removed from youtube for a copyright violation.  Don’t know what’s up with that, but here is a replacement....
