If you are looking to keep hands off home defense handgun, you might want to consider a small safe. Safes are great ways to keep unwanted hands off your gun, but they do have a drawback; they may keep your hands off your gun when you need it the most. This is a problem for anyone that wants a handgun readily accessible for defense, but wants to keep children and snoopy friends away.
There are a couple of good options available for less than $100. They involve a keypad that you can access. The question is, can you access it fast enough, while you are under stress? The best option is one of the new biometric safes that are available. When it recognizes your fingerprint, the door drops open.
This type of safe will run anywhere from $150 and up. Mount it in your closet and you may have the best of both worlds. Check the out here.
My one cubic foot closet safe has a key lock in addition to a combination lock. I have fast access via the key when home, and a quick spin of the dial gives maximum security when away. I found the safe at a second-hand store for $20.
Great idea. Notice how SAM says to make sure you spin the dial when you go home. The safes are not made to be as secure with the key lock as they are when you engage the tumblers on the dial, but to keep little hands away this is another great option. Thanks for the idea.
