Obliterated Serial Numbers

Posted by in Just Whatever | 0 comments

You are at the local gun show.  While perusing the tables you run across an unbelievable gun.  You have been looking for this gun for months.  The condition is pretty good.  The price is right.  One problem, no serial number.  Is this a problem or not. If the gun you are looking at was manufactured before 1968 (source – ATF Knoxville Field Office), it may or may not have a serial number.  Some companies used them, and others...

Rotate Your Ammo

Posted by in Just Whatever | 0 comments

If you consistently load and unload your ammo from mags after you duty shift ends or when you come home, you need to consider that every time you load and unload the same cartridge it could have a bad effect on the bullet.  I have seen this many times with rounds that are noticeable shorter because they were loaded and unloaded many times. Last week the TN House and...

Price gouging seems to be something that we are all familiar with since the end of the world started last year.  Remember when gas was $4.00 a gallon, and companies like Exxon were still reporting record profits?  Well that same problem has now reached the gun world. At the last Nashville Gun Show, one our customers reported seeing a RugerLCP go for around $500.  This my friends is a great example of the price gouge.  That gun on a good day...

Taurus Model 80

Posted by in Just Whatever | 0 comments

I recently had a customer bring in a Taurus Model 80, .38 special revolver to me with a few minor things that needed to be worked out.  He complained of the gun locking up from time to time when he was shooting at the range.  It couldn’t be replicated with dummy rounds or empty cases, but when live ammo was used it was as if the gun would freeze up. This type of problem is not uncommon for a revolver.  If your ejector rod becomes loose it...
